Save Nature. Save Money. Stay Safe.
CNG Cylinder Testing is a comprehensive process to ensure the safety and integrity of Compressed Natural Gas cylinders used in various applications. These tests are ideally done in 3 years interval to ensure CNG cylinders are safe & reliable, minimizing the risks associated with gas containment & transportation.
DEPRESSURING & DEGASSING
Degassing of Cylinders: Any remaining gas is removed from the cylinders to ensure that they are safe to proceed with Testing
INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CLEADNING
The interior and Exterior of the cylinder are thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt contaminants and potential residues. A detailed examination of the interior of the cylinders is conducted to identify any signs of corrosion, damage or other issues. The outer surface is inspected for thickness, bulges, burns, dents, and dings.
BORESCOPE
Borescopes are indeed utilized for inspecting the internals of cylinders, particularly to assess corrosion, damages and other potential issues that might affect their functionalityand safety
UT FLAW DETECTION
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is a highly effective Non-Destructive Test (NDT) method commonly used for detecting & evaluating cracks in the metal. It relies on the principles of sending high-frequency sound waves (ultrasonic waves) into the metal & analyzing the reflected waves to identify cracks, voids, or other defects.
HYDROSTAT IC TEST BY WATER JACKET METHOD
The hydrostatic test is performed by immersing the cylinder in water with in a specialized test jacket. The cylinder is pressurized with water, and its expansion is monitored to ensure it can withstand the intended pressure safely.
CYLINDER DRYING
After the hydrostatic test, the cylinders are carefully dried to prevent corrosion
CYLINDER WALL THICKNESS MEASUREMENT
Ultrasonic Thickness Testers are used to measure the thickness of the cylinder walls. This helps assess the cylinder's structural integrity.
TEST MARK SIGN
A test mark sign label is placed on the cylinder to indicate that it has been tested and certified as fit to use.
CNG cylinders operate under high pressure and can wear out over time. Regular testing helps identify weaknesses or defects that could lead to leaks or ruptures.
CNG cylinders can experience cracks during refueling which can lead to explosions. Regular testing helps to prevent these accidents.
In India, CNG vehicles must be Hydro tested every three years, as per the Gas Cylinder Rules, 2004 and Indian Standard 8451: 2009. Failure to comply may result in Prosecution and refusal to refill CNG at a station.
